The most distinctive and iconic teaching of the Buddha is that of non-self – that there is no true self or soul behind the flow of actions, speech, thoughts and emotions with which we identify. However, if that’s the case, who is making decisions? Is there free will? This talk explores how the Buddha addresses our conventional sense of self while simultaneously teaching contemplative meditations designed to uproot the delusions that keep us attached to fictitious projections of who we think we are.
