A Cherub Angel is an angel that is a part of the Cherubim hierarchical order of angels.  The Cherubim order holds a second-place ranking (under the seraphim) in the angelic hierarchy structure.  Like other orders of God’s angels, these angels are protectors and ambassadors of God. Historically, these angels are depicted in art as being chubby and child-like in appearance.  However, their biblical descriptions differ greatly. They are described as having four faces (ox, lion, man, and eagle) and four wings.

What does it say about a Cherub Angel within the Bible?

The Cherubim are found in the Book of Genesis, Ezekiel, Psalm, Kings, and Revelation.  They play an important role as guardians of the garden of Eden. Here are some verses referencing Cherub Angels or the Cherubim order of angels:

“He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life” – Genesis 3:24

“Then I looked, and behold, on the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim there appeared above them something like a sapphire, in appearance like a throne.  And he said to the man clothed in linen, ‘Go in among the whirling underneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from between the cherubim and scatter them over the city.”  – Ezekiel 10:1-22

“And he went in before my eyes. Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the house when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. And the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.  And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks” – Ezekiel 10:1-22
